THE TEMPLE GROVE ESTATE

The estate has a long history with Temple Grove House being the former country house. Whilst the house is a fine example of late Victorian architecture built in a Jacobean style, it is understood to date back to c1700 and occupies a site which has been inhabited since the c16th.

In 1871 poet Coventry Patmore engaged the help of architect John Francis Bentley who was best known for designing Westminster Cathedral, to help design and create an estate with a stately feel coupled with landscaped gardens.

In 1930 Temple Grove became a preparatory school with a fine reputation, whose alumni included Harold Macmillan, Andrew Lloyd Weber and Sir Douglas Bader.

In 2004 the school closed and a developer took the opportunity to restore the house to its former glory.

In 1982 Sir Terence Conran co-founded an architectural and city planning business together with a design consultancy in 1990, thereafter becoming Conran holdings where Conran and Partners was formed.

He was knighted in 1993 and in 2003 was given the Prince Philip Designers prize in recognition of his lifetime achievements in design. It is clear to see that these attributes are reflected in the design and concept of Groveside whilst embracing its wonderful, unique setting.

GROVESIDE

An architecturally rich, imposing dwelling with light and airy accommodation due to the floor to ceiling windows which look out over the surrounding countryside. The large interior spaces are welcoming, ideal for entertaining, whilst energy costs are kept to a minimum with the advantage of high degrees of insulation and ground source heating.
